AVON — John A Pocos, 80, of Avon, died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Rae Ann of Westlake, after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 26, 1938 in Cleveland and has lived in Avon for many years. He graduated from Westlake High School, after which he worked on the Great Lakes in the Merchant Marine.

He married his wife, Roberta, on November 5, 1966, and had been married 52 years before her death in 2018. He was self employed as a manufacturers representative for 55 years. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his pets.

He is survived by 3 children: Terri Searle, David (Sue) Pocos, and Scott Pocos; 7 Grandchildren: Victoria, Zachary, Joshua, Nicholas, Benjamin, Delaney, and Olivia; Sister: Carol Bajus; several nieces and nephews; Sister-In-Law: Kathy Pocos.

Besides his wife, Roberta (nee Kumnick), he was also preceded in death by his parents: John and Eleanor (nee Bubert) Pocos and 1 brother: Dennis Pocos.

Family will receive friends at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church 2265 Garden Drive, Avon. Private interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be donated to a charity to be chosen by the family.
