Theodore “Ted” Eschen

WAKEMAN — Theodore “Ted” Eschen, 66, formerly of Wakeman, Ohio, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic, where he donated his body for the advancement of medical science.

From an early age Ted loved working with animals. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association during his 4H years, showing and racing his Quarter Horses. He later went on to ride bareback bronc and brahma bull in the PBR rodeo circuit. Ted was an avid sports fan and was a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association for which he officiated high school football and basketball. He enjoyed reading and watching old movies and shows about history, science and medicine.

After high school Ted went to school to become a farrier, then worked for the Farm Bureau in Norwalk, Ohio then for RJ Angelo Milk Transport – both while working as a farrier. He then worked for many years as Operations Manager at US Steel/Republic Technologies in the BOP shop until his retirement. 

Ted is survived by his wife of 45 years Pattie (Buck) Eschen, daughters Julie (Chad) Baker, Amy (Peter) Crosby, Jennifer Eschen, son Mark Eschen, brother Randy (Diane) Eschen, and his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Ellen (Wacker) Eschen, and brother John Eschen.

A memorial service will not be held at this time, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
