BRADENTON FLA. — Born to “Joe” and Katherine Leek of Monroeville, OH, Karen graduated from Monroeville High School in 1957. She graduated from Riverside Hospital School of Nursing, Columbus, OH. During her nursing career she served in various hometown hospitals including as a supervisor ship at Fisher-Titus Hospital, Norwalk, OH; Director of Nursing at Bellevue, OH Hospital, and the first head nurse when Good Samaritan Hospital, Sandusky, OH opened its psychiatric unit.

Those associated with Karen were impressed by her nursing skills and patient care. Physical disabilities caused her retirement and Bradenton relocation.

While growing up, she helped her father at the family newspaper, The Monroeville Spectator, and carried over with her newspaper knowledge by reporting for the Bradenton newspaper.

Survivors are her brother Philip, Mansfield, OH; nephews Philip Jr., Mansfield, and Eric, Chicago, IL; best friend Barbara Behrens King, Monroeville; and numerous friends.

Her parents and sister-in-law Carolyn (Philip) Leek preceded her in death.

She is missed by all who knew her.
