NORWALK — Our beloved, Donald C. Smith (aka Donnie), went peacefully into the arms of his Lord at the age of 73, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, Ohio, after a 18 month residence at Providence Care Center in Sandusky. He was born August 23, 1945, in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Charles and Pauline (Zimmerman) Smith, and was a lifelong area resident, graduating from St. Paul High School in 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving stateside during the Vietnam War. While stationed in California he participated in the Color Guard and was involved in many important ceremonies. Don also earned a degree in marketing from Terra Tech Institute and went on to work at the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, retiring in 2005 after 30 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #1216. Don was a talented furniture maker, a proud and skillful gardener and he was the founder of The Good Neighbor program in Norwalk. Don will be affectionately remembered as 'one of a kind', with a multifaceted personality. If you knew him, it wouldn't take you long to see the angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other. He was well loved. His unique witt and loveable personality made for fast friends and he will be sorely missed by family, long-time friends, caregivers and newly made friends at Providence Care Center.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deborah A.
