NORWALK — Estelle Howe, age 97, of Norwalk, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Estelle was born in Calloway County, KY on March 4, 1921 to her parents, Wiley and Lydia Phillips, the fourth of five children. She married Corliss “Carl” Howe in 1948 and was devoted to her beloved husband until his passing in 1993.
Estelle enjoyed a lifetime love of learning and was an avid bowler well into her late eighties, often achieving game averages over 160. She was an ardent fan of Detroit Tigers baseball, and later in life, she kindly humored her oldest son by enthusiastically watching golf with him. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Norwalk.
Estelle is survived by immediate family, son, David Howe and wife Jean, daughter Nancy Curl, and son Larry Howe and wife Sharon; four grandchildren, Timothy Curl and wife Lauryna, Sarah Rainwater and husband Mark, Lydia Hale and husband Nick, and Alex Howe; and three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Rainwater, Emily Rainwater, and Lukas Curl. Estelle is also survived by extended generations of nieces, nephews, and grand and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention. In addition to her husband, parents and siblings, Estelle was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Wheeler.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. in the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
