Steve Lockyer

WILLARD – Steve Lockyer, 71, of Willard, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2018 in Mercy Hospital, Willard, Ohio.

He was born April 13, 1947 in Norwalk, Ohio, and was a lifelong area resident. Steve was a 1965 graduate of South Central High School, and was a member of Church of the Master in Steuben, Ohio. He was a former employee of Albright Turkey Farm, and at Cedar Point working with Jungle Larry.

He enjoyed animals, especially his cats, doing chores, hiking, camping, horseback riding, watching movies, and planting flowers. Steve had a servant’s heart, and a kindred soul. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, and contributed to many animal charities, and took in many stray cats.

Steve is survived by his mother, Dolores (Mitchell) Lockyer of Willard, Ohio, by his sister and brother in law, Jan and Dale I. Smith of Willard, Ohio, by his nephew and his wife, Jeremiah and Alisha Huffman, and by his great niece, Claire Huffman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred H. Lockyer in 1980, by his paternal grandparents, Leonard and L. Edna Lockyer, by his maternal grandparents, Harold R. and Edna Mitchell, and by his maternal great great grandparents, Jennie and Frederick Mitchell.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be private in North Fairfield Cemetery. Pastor Dan Caudill will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Feline Sanctuary Cat House, 1130 East Main Street, #136, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.
