George A. Kline

GREENWICH — George A. Kline, age 94, died February 15, 2018.

Born April 26, 1923 to parents Andrew W. Kline and Mabel Marvin, he lived most of his younger life in Greenwich, Ohio. Hard worker with his first job at the age of 12; adventurous teenager who went to the 1939 New York World’s Fair by train with his best friend; president of the Greenwich High School class of 1941. He married his high school sweetheart, Yvonadell (Van Brimer) in 1943, and served in the Army Air Force in Italy between 1943-45. Following technical school after WWII, he and Yvonadell moved to Lancaster. In 1955, together with partners Gayle Riegel and Zene Zumbro, they opened Trio TV & Appliance, an independent business which was sold in 1998, after 43 years in business on East Main Street. After retirement, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and other service organizations in Lancaster.

He is preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Yvonadell (whom he cared for with great heart in her later years) and by siblings Harold Marvin (Marie), Ellen (Alvin Paramore), Annis (Tom Brady), Cora (Don King), Arlene (Harvey Wilson), Margaret, and Lawrence (Patricia). His sister-in-law Pat Kline lives in Greenwich, Ohio.

He was a quiet, intelligent and honorable man with a dry sense of humor, loved by his children and their spouses: Mike and Brenda (Flickinger), Chris and Sabrina (Li), and Julie; by his grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer (Steven Guzzardi) David (Aubree Danner), Rachel, Robert, Andrea, and Andrew; and by great granddaughters, Myleigh Sambrano, Nevaeh and Carter Kline.

A funeral service was held on February 20, 2018 at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, with burial following in Greenwich, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations to Fairhope Hospice or Habitat for Humanity are appreciated.
