Rosemary E. (Claus) Mesenburg

Rosemary E. (Claus) Mesenburg, 88, of Huron, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Feb. 4th 2014.

She was born September 1, 1925 in Bellevue, where she resided and eventually graduated from Bellevue High School in 1944.  She enjoyed playing cards, solving word puzzles, was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, and cherished all family gatherings.

Rosemary married her beloved husband Walter on March 2nd 1946 and resided in Norwalk and later Huron where they opened and co-owned the Pilot House and the Showboat Restaurants in Huron. They spent many winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Rosemary is survived by three sons, Rick (Gloria), Randy (Sherri) and Mitch (Shannon); a brother, Jake (June) Claus of Huron, sisters, Eileen (Clayton) Siesel of Bellevue, Leona McLoughlin of Mechanicsville, VA, and Rita Welsch of Pueblo West, Colorado.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Paul (Natasha) Childers of Brisbane, Australia, Jaime Mesenburg of San Diego, CA, Jesse Mesenburg of Columbus, OH, XinHua, Marley, Khien, Ming, Mesenburg all of Milan, OH; great-grandchildren include Mia, Alexandra, and Isaac Childers, all of Brisbane, Australia.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, Walter, 2007; daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Mesenburg and son, Sgt. Terrance Mesenburg, of whom passed away in 1969; sisters, Stella Perrin and Alma Alt.

A special thanks to Rosemary’s dedicated caregivers; Betty Jo, Nina, Trina, Debbie, Susan, and all of the hospice nurses; and we thank them for the tender loving care and protection they bestowed on Rosemary during the last few months.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron with Rev. Jeffrey McBeth officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky 44870 or to St. Peter Church, Huron.
