Clifford E. Springer, age 78, of Norwalk, died Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 12, 1935 in Oberlin to the late Earl F. and Dorothy (Morgan) Springer. He was a 1954 graduate of Norwalk High School. He married the former Shirley M. Swicker on October 15, 1954 in Norwalk.
He was a heavy equipment operator over 44 years for the A.J. Baltes, Milan Steel, S.E. Johnson and Hale Leasing, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 18, Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711, VFW Post 2743 and American Legion Post 41.
He attended St. Peter Lutheran Church, played euchre, word finds, watched western movies, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren's sports.
He is survived by his children, James (Sandy) Springer of Norwalk, Karen (Alfred) Percival of Berlin Heights, and Jeffery (Peggy) Springer of Norwalk; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly Finnen; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Swicker) Springer in 2008; and brother, Ronald William Springer in 1964.
Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, also Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Revs. Ken Springer and Glenn Springer will officiate. Burial will follow at Milan Cemetery.
