Bernard Wood

WAKEMAN -- Bernard G. Wood, age 79 and a resident of Wakeman, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a one year illness.

He was born January 11, 1934 in Tiltonsville to the late James and Olga (nee Maceluch) Wood. Bernie served in the United State Air Force and was retired from Ford Motor Company, Lorain after 40 years of employment. He was a member of Wakeman Congregational Church and Wakeman Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bernie was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors, especially bird watching and bird feeding. He loved his home and his yard in Wakeman.

Survivors include his four children; Bernard (Linda) Wood of Wakeman, Kimberly (Dean) Wampleman of North Ridgeville, Rebecca (Jeff) Hoffman of Berlin Heights, Joseph (Christine) Wood of Wakeman, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brothers Adam (Kate) Wood of Elyria and James (Donna) Woods of Sheffield Lake, his aunt Anne Kazimer of Middleburg Heights, and his uncle Corky Maeluk of Sebring.

In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his wife Sharlene A. (nee Balogh) and his brother Michael Wood.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery, Wakeman.
