NORWALK -- William C. Gant, 73, of Norwalk, Ohio, died early Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2013, in Fisher Titus Medical Center.
He was born June 7, 1940 in Sandusky, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Sandusky High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korea Conflict. William retired as the head chef/supervisor of Ohio Veterans Home and had worked at Sandusky Dressed Beef.
He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Alicia and James Dendinger, of Norwalk, Ohio, Leanne Sigley, of Norwalk, Ohio, Carol Christie of Sandusky, Ohio, William Gant, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia, Shinda and Erica Gant, of Sandusky, Ohio, Yolanda Gant of Sandusky, Ohio, Shannon and Renee, by many grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his Aunt, Mildred Gant, of Sandusky, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Gant in 2007, by his adoptive mother, Ida Gant, by his sisters, Inez Crosby, Geneva Wilson, and Christine Baxley, by his brothers, Ralph London, Robert, Herman, Roy, and Albert, and by his grandson, Zachary Christie. There will be no visitation.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Darrell Gant, chaplain of Stein Hospice will officiate.
