Edward Frank Hassee, 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his home.
Edward was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 2, 1924 to the late William Frank and Verna J. (Heim) Hassee.
He graduated from Bosse High School in 1942 and served in the US Navy as an Ensign in the supply corp. on the U.S.S. ORCA in the South Pacific.
After returning home from service he earned a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Evansville and a Master's Degree in Business Administration at Indiana University. He then went to Pennsylvania to seek employment and to renew acquaintance with his future wife, Dolores, whom he married in 1949.
Edward began his career with Mead Johnson as an accountant in 1949 and retired as Vice President of Finance from Bristol Myers USPNG after 40 years of service in 1989. He was a member of the National Association of Accountants, was a lifelong member of Methodist Temple and served on the Citizen's Realty Board and the Water Works Board.
Edward diligently and faithfully served as Treasurer of the local Buffalo Trace Council for 40 years and represented the local chapter at the national Boy Scouts of America council meetings and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was appropriately honored by having the dining hall at Old Ben Scout Reservation named after him, the Edward F. Hassee Center.
Edward is survived by his sons, Robert William Hassee of Evansville, James Edward Hassee (Elizabeth) of Greenwood, IN, Thomas Wayne Hassee (Kathy) of Norwalk, OH and Donald Frank Hassee of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Scott (Rebecca), Brittany, Mackenzie and Annie Hassee and Marissa Walter (Tyler).
Edward is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dolores V. (Suits) Hassee in 2001, by his parents; his brother, Wayne W. Hassee in 1984; sister-in-law, Fredia Hassee in 2011; and by his grandson, Todd Hassee in 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 with Rev. Andy Payton and Rev. Jeff Kinkade officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and from 8:30 AM until service time at the church on Saturday.
