James B. Hargus, age 90, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, August 07, 2013 at Gaymont Nursing Center.
He was born May 6, 1923 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to the late Walter and Ruth (Chiles) Hargus. He served in the US Air Force from 1943 until 1946 and received three bronze service stars. He worked at US Steel in Pittsburgh, PA for 34 years, retiring in 1982. He moved to Norwalk in 1984 and enjoyed photography, woodworking and silver smithing.
He is survived by his children, Janet Ruckel of Pittsburgh, PA, Betsy Hargus of Wayne, PA, Emily Hargus of Norwalk, Jennifer Wright of Fairfield, PA and Bruce Hargus of Annapolis, MD; 12 grandchildren and five-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Toman) Hargus in 2009; and a son, Jeffrey Hargus in 1990.
There will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held at a later date. Private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
