Clarissa "Chris" Seaman

Clarissa "Chris" Seaman, 94, of Willard, died Monday, August 5, 2013.

She was born August 24, 1918, to the late Alexander and Bertha (Trader) Strickling in McFarland, WV. She had 6 brothers, 1 half brother and 6 half sisters.

When Chris was 4 years old her mother passed away and she was sent to a children's home in Ashland, Ohio. Chris lived at the home until she was 17 years old, at that time she moved to a foster home in Shiloh. While at the foster home she was required to work a lot of long hours on the farm and never got to finish school. While living there she met her neighbor Dale Seaman and when she turned 21 the two were married. After marriage they continued to live in the Shiloh area and later the Greenwich area and were into farming.

In 1950 they had a son also named Dale. After an illness to her husband in 1968 they sold their farm and moved into Greenwich.

Chris has always liked being outside working in the garden and planting flowers. She also enjoyed visits from her family and friends, watching ball games and playing Bingo.

Chris is survived by her son, Dale (Lou Ann) Seaman of Greenwich; 1 foster daughter that also came from a children's home; 1 grandson, Todd (Chelly) Seaman of North Fairfield; 1 step grandson; 1 great grandson, Tristan Seaman; 1 great granddaughter, Callie Seaman; several foster grandchildren and brother, Norman Bash of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale M. in 1973; grandson, Scott Seaman in 2000; 1 foster daughter; 5 brothers and several half brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich where a service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh.
