Eleanore C. Richards

 Eleanore C. Richards, 90, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Stein Hospice Care Center. 

She was born April 23, 1923 in Ellicottvile, New York to the late Simon and Lottie Mae (Groff) Marchel and came to Norwalk, Ohio in 1938 from New York. She was a former employee of F .W. Woolworth in downtown Norwalk, working behind the candy counter for 13 years. It was there that she met her husband of nearly 60 years, Greg.

Eleanore was a member of the Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a life member of the Friends of the Library, Norwalk, Ohio.

 She and Greg were avid travelers having visited 50 states and numerous foreign countries. Eleanore was a nature and animal lover, enjoyed reading, she was a lover of music, especially Irish music, was a huge John Wayne fan, and was a loving wife and mother.

 In addition to her husband, Greg, she is survived by her children, Steven W. Richards of Columbus, Ohio, Gary B. Richards of Harrison, Ohio, and Dawn M. and Robert McGuire of Akron, Ohio. Eleanore is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Engle of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several step brothers and step sisters.

Friends may call on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.  Mel Sayler, Chaplain of Stein Hospice Service will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
