GREENWICH -- Basil R. Coburn, age 82, of Greenwich, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 19, 1931 in Athens, West Virginia, son of the late Bernard and Okie (Gore) Coburn. Basil moved to Ohio in 1950.
He was a graduate of Greenwich High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954 in Germany driving truck for the company commander. Basil had worked for Ideal Electric in Mansfield as a welder. He was also a dairy farmer. After retiring from farming he worked for Country Star, Sunrise Co-op and area farmers. He enjoyed camping, farming and combining. Basil and his wife Anna spent 38 winters in Florida after retiring where they made many friends from across the United States and Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Jane (Sutton) Coburn, whom he married September 10, 1955; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 2 -4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating.
