Robert C. Weidinger Jr., age 86, of Collins, died Monday evening, June 3, 2013 at Cleveland Metro Hospital.
He was born March 30, 1927 in Norwalk to the late Robert and Elizabeth Rose (Harkins) Weidinger. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He worked 43 years at CertainTeed in Milan as a supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Norwalk VFW, American Legion, was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping. In his earlier years he enjoyed coaching little league and was a former Boy Scout Leader.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and bargain shopping.
He is survived by Chuck Weidinger of Norwalk, Joel Weidinger of Collins, Roberta Lynch of Collins and Jim (Lelah) Weidinger of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (George) Eslinger of Milan; brothers, Ray Weidinger of Norwalk, Paul (Sharon) Weidinger of Olena, Dick (Joan) Weidinger of Marietta, GA and Mike Weidinger of Mesa, AZ; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn (McCardell) Weidinger; children, John Weidinger and Deborah Blevins; step-mother, Alice Weidinger; sister, Betty Jean Finnen; and brother, Donald Weidinger.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Private interment will be held at a later date.
