Gary Allan Billiard, 69, a long time resident of Norwalk, Ohio, and formerly of Bellevue, Ohio, died May 14, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 24, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio, to parents G. Thomas and Vera Mae Schultz Billiard, both deceased. For many years he was President of Northern Ohio Stone in Flatrock, Ohio, a family owned business.
In recent years he was President of Skidabrader LLC , an airport and highway texturing contractor. In that occupation he served on the board of ASTM International and Vice Chairman of the E17 committee. ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world; and a source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. He was also a board member of the committee on skid resistance of highways and airports for Transportation Research Board which is part of the National Academy of Sciences. He also served on the Board of Texas Pavement Preservation. Gary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as Bishop for over nine years. He married Stasia Swartz, of Norwalk, Ohio, on August 12, 1967.
He leaves his wife and two children; Thomas Dirk Billiard of Newport Beach, California and daughter, Tallee Jean Whitehorn of Sammamish, Washington; along with grandsons, Alex, Gavin, and Thomas Whitehorn; and daughter-in- law, Johannah Billiard and son-in-law, Jason Whitehorn.
Friends may call on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio.
