George R. Latteman, 77, of Monroeville, Ohio, died Monday, April 29, 2013 in an automobile accident.
He was born June 6, 1935 in Birmingham, Ohio to the late George J. and Mary E. (Gersak) Latteman and was a lifelong resident of the Birmingham and Monroeville, Ohio areas.
George was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a member of the Huron County Farm Bureau and the Sandusky Bay Coon Hunters Club where he was often a judge in the water events.
He was a lifelong farmer, former employee of the Lorain American Shipyard, was a former maintenance man for J.C. Penny Company, and retired from Norwalk Furniture Company in 1997.
George enjoyed coon hunting, playing cards, hunting ginseng root and mushrooms, turkey shoots, and going to auction sales. He is survived by his children, David A. and Betsy Latteman of Willard, Ohio, George R. "Bob" and Amy Latteman of Norwalk, Ohio, and Michael J. Latteman of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his grandchildren, George, Theodore, Christopher, and Kennedy. George was preceded in death by his wife, Marie A. (Hohler) Latteman in 2002, and by his brother, Andrew Latteman.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Fr. William Pifher will officiate. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.
