William L. Walker, of Norwalk OH, died Thursday evening, March 28, 2013, at Twilight Gardens Nursing Home.
He was born in Akron, OH on Jan. 23, 1928 to the late Mabel (Thompson) Walker and Lester S. Crossland.
He attended Norwalk High School, and was a member of the U.S. Navy, during World War II. He was a member of Norwalk VFW Post 2743. He retired from the WT Grant Co. after many years of managing stores across the United States. Upon his retirement from WT Grant Co., he owned and operated K-9 Ranch, a pet boarding, training, grooming, and pet cemetery business in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a dog handler and trainer, participating at dog shows throughout the country. In his earlier years, Bill enjoyed hunting, golfing, spending time on his boat at Lake Erie, and flying his airplane. He volunteered at the local S.C.O.R.E. organization for several years.
He is survived by his children, David Walker, Columbus, OH; Deborah (Stephen) Smith, Perrysville, OH; Sherry Hopkins, Sevierville, TN; Sandra Brown, MI; and Paul (Gina) Walker, Garrett, IN. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother, Eugene (Barb) Walker, and sister, Lillian Wooten, plus numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Walker.
