James Montgomery, 74, of North Fairfield, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at his home. Born on June 11, 1938, in Ripley Township, son of the late Mose and Ada (Green) Montgomery.
He graduated from Greenwich High School and attended University of Toledo. James served in the United States Navy Reserve. He worked at Akron Standard Mold, taught welding at EHOVE, supervisor at Tech Form in Shelby and he was a plant superintendent for Tube Products in Louisville, Kentucky and Troy, Ohio.
James was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a 32 degree, the Scottish Rite and Willard Lodge. He was a 4-H Saddle Club advisor.
He enjoyed NASCAR and hunting and most of all being with his family.
James will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara (Barre); children, James R. (Susana) Montgomery of North Fairfield and Glenna Montgomery (Ed Hemeyer of Bellevue) of Greenwich; grandchildren, Brandon Montgomery of FL and Travis Montgomery of CA; his yellow lab, Kennedy; siblings, Joy (Richard) Sweeting of North Fairfield, Cheryl (Larry) Fox of IN, John (Helen) Montgomery of Greenwich and Rick Montgomery of Willard; sister-in-laws, Brenda Montgomery of Shelby, Brenda (Buddy) Schwab of Old Fort, Teresa (Garry) Boice of Shelby and LaVonne (Robert) Ayres of Willard and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Montgomery.
James' family will greet friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 with an evening Masonic service at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich where a service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Grove Cemetery.
