Rodney Dean Williams

Rodney Dean Williams, age 69, of North Fairfield, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

He was born August 28, 1943 in New London, son of the late Woodrow and Alice (Doyler) Williams.

Rod had lived in North Fairfield since 1972. He was a 1961 graduate of New London High School.

He had drove truck for Schoenegge Trucking, Youngstown Cartage, Dauch Concrete and retired from Walcher Grain.

He most recently had been working for A.J. Riley.

Rod was an active member of the North Fairfield Lions Club, a member of the Fairfield Fire Board, enjoyed spending time at the North Fairfield American Legion Firelands Memorial Post 706.

Rod enjoyed playing euchre daily with his friends every morning at the Fairfield Township building. He was an avid card player.

Rod received the North Fairfield Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 2005. He was a key player in the Haunted Hayride in North Fairfield.

Rod never knew a stranger. Sshhhh.....Rod played Santa annually at the Fairfield Fire Station.

He is survived by his children, Amy (Ben) Gahring of North Fairfield, Barbi (Doug) Fidler of Shelby, Steffany (Calvin) Conaway of Greenwich; grandchildren, Kali (Levi) Beck, Dustin (Tara) Gahring, Alix, Cori and Maddi Fidler, Tristan (Kevin Hart) Conaway, Karlie and Cameron Conaway; 3 great grandchildren, Mya Inmon, Caden Gahring, Leland Hart and Landin Hart is due in June; siblings, David (Shirley) Williams of Norwalk, Lewis Williams of Kentucky; his aunt, Louise Thomas of New London. Rodney died with his loving wife, Betty (Nebergall) Williams, whom he had married July 17, 1965 also preceded in death by his grandmother, Ida Doyler.

Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at the New London Alliance Church, 4625 State Route 162 West, New London, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Burial will follow at the North Fairfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the North Fairfield Lions Club, 911 Edwards Rd., North Fairfield, Ohio 44855. Eastman Funeral Home, New London are in charge of arrangements.
