Harold G. Leber, 93, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on May 15, 1919 in Sandusky, the son of the late Edward Jacob and Margaretha (Ries) Leber.
Harold had attended Sandusky Public Schools. He was a lifelong farmer, having farmed his family farm for many years and he had also worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission for nearly 30 years, as a toll collector, retiring in 1985. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, camping and square dancing and had been a square dance caller for the group "Quarter Notes."
Harold was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he has held several positions throughout the years and was a lifelong member of the church choir, member of the Farm Bureau and the Turnpike Neighbors Farm Bureau Council.
He is survived by his family, Terry (Karen) Leber, Lance (Terri) Leber, Jill Weilnau, Randy (Penny) Leber and Holly (David) Yetter; special companion, Carole Midkiff; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian "Pete" (Graham) Leber on August 11, 1983; a grandson, Charles Harold Leber; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013, from 3-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and Tuesday morning, February 5, 2013, at 10 am until time of the funeral services at 11 am at St. John's United Church of Christ, corner of Mason and Thomas Road, Milan. Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney officiating. Burial will be in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Milan.
