Hazel M. Back, 83, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
She was born May 29, 1929 in Prestonsburg, KY to Millard and Victoria Hamilton, and has lived in this area since 1953. Hazel was a member of Deliverance Tabernacle Church in New London.
She was a devoted Christian and was always happy to tell you about the love of Jesus, and what he had done for her and what he could do for you if only you would accept him into your heart. Her greatest joy in life was reading her Bible, singing in church and her family. She was a loving wife, mother and friend to everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Roy Back of Olena; daughters, Linda Edwards of Norwalk, Joyce (Dan) Pitman of Peoria, IL; sons, Robert Cleary of Olena and Don (Jill) Cleary of New London; stepsons, Sam (Marsha) Back of North Fairfield and Michael (Lisa) Back of Greenwich; stepdaughter, Diana (Roger) Rhine of Greenwich; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Cleary in 1984; daughters, Ruth Williams in 2006, Brenda Sue Mack in 2009; and son, Mark Timothy Cleary in 2011.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home in Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Fitzwater, pastor of the Deliverance Tabernacle Church officiating. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.
