Paul F. "Jack" Boss, 84, of New London, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Brethren Care Nursing Home, Ashland.
He was born August 17, 1928 in West Liberty, Ohio, a son of the late Paul E. and Irene F. (Keenan) Boss. Paul lived in Rochester from 1948 until he moved to New London in 1988.
He had worked at Thew Shovel for 30 years in Lorain, Wellington Implement for 5 years, Anvil Attachments in Wellington for 5 years and retired from Roth Manufacturing, New London in 1992. He also was an independent electrical appliance repairman in the 1960s and 1970s. Paul was a founding member of the Rochester Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary E. (Williams) Boss, whom he married January 3, 1947; children, Jean (John) Copley of New London, Jim (Pam) Boss of Wakeman, Steve (Andi) Boss of New London; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Martha Myers of Florida, Carl Boss of Oberlin, Benjamin "Gene" Boss of Ashland and a half sister, Betty Lee of Lima.
Visitation will be held at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London on Wednesday, January 9 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. At that time a brief memorial in honor of Paul will be held. A private burial will be held at East Creek Cemetery. The Boss family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Rochester Fire Department, 200 Eagle Street, Rochester, Ohio 44090.
