Ernest E. Lohman, 81, of Hummelstown, Pa. passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born August 3, 1931 in Norwalk, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Johanna (Gregory) Lohman.
Ernie was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean War.
He earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University in 1966 and dedicated his career to improving public education throughout the United States. Ernie retired as a Professor of Education from Keene State College in 1992 and enjoyed two decades of traveling, playing golf, enjoying Ohio State Buckeye football games, and cherished time with his beloved wife Peg and dog Abby. He also found great meaning and comfort attending Hummelstown United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his loving wife Peg Lohman and his children Leslie Vlachos (Steve), Garry Lohman (Lisa), Bill Lohman, Ellen Lohman, and Cindy Lohman; sister Delores Janeda;
grandchildren Marelena Cruz and Gregory and Garron Lohman; and, not to be missed, his beloved canine friend Abby.
A celebration of Ernie's life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Hummelstown United Church of Christ, 104 East Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment will be at held at a private family ceremony in Woodland Cemetery, Keene, New Hampshire.
