Clarence Slone, 77, of 7326 State Route 19 Unit 0903, Mount Gilead, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Clarence was born in Pikeville, KY on June 8, 1935 to the late James and Nancy (Murphy) Slone. He married Shirley E. Rutan on November, 8, 1955 and she survives him.
He was employed as a Plumber until retirement in 1998, belonging to the Plumber & Pipe Fitter Local #42, Norwalk.
He was the former owner of Summit Street Carryout, Galion and he also owned and operated 13 Carryout in Greenwich. He was a member of Marion Masonic Lodge #70 F. & A.M. Clarence loved fishing. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. & Jr. He was an avid hunter; who also enjoyed golfing, mushroom hunting and turkey shoots.
He is survived by his five sons: Clarence Dale & Brenda Slone of Douglas, GA; Jeff & Carla Slone of Mt. Gilead; Perry & Cathy Slone of Findlay; Carl Slone of Bucyrus and Wes Slone of New London; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his twelve brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012 at North Fork Cemetery, Fredericktown with Rev. Brandon Quail officiating.
