Walter Marcum, 86, of Willard, Ohio, died Monday afternoon, August 20, 2012, in Willard Mercy Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1926 in Kermit, West Virginia to the late Wayne and Columbia (Stafford) Marcum and came to this area in 1953 from Delbarton, West Virginia.
Walter was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in WWII. He was a founder and helped build the Ripley Chapel, Ripley Twp., Greenwich, Ohio. He was a former Coal Miner, had worked for Fisher Body of Norwalk, Ohio, Precision Plastic of Norwalk , Ohio, White Westinghouse, of Norwalk, Ohio, and Ridged Tool of Elyria, Ohio. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering.
He is survived by his wife, Mable (Marie) ( Barton) Marcum, of Willard, Ohio, by his children, John C. and Kathleen Marcum, of Greenwich, Ohio, Ronald and Susan Marcum of Norwalk, Ohio, Audrey Faye and James Mosley of Willard, Ohio, Walter David and Susan Marcum of Monroeville, Ohio, and Sharon and Glen Franklin of Huron, Ohio. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Velman Sexton and Pastor Ron Sallee will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
