WAKEMAN — Stanley Dean Brumby, 83, of Las Vegas, died Dec. 28 in Las Vegas.

He was born Nov. 19, 1924 in Kipton.

He graduated from Wakeman High School in 1942 and from Oberlin College and The Ohio State University with a master’s degree. He served in the Navy as an aviator and flight instructor during World War II.

He was a coach and taught science, physics and math at Wakeman High School.

He began a 36-year career with BF Goodrich in its domestic and international divisions, retiring from the Chemical Division in 1990 as manager of compensation administration. He moved to Bradenton, Fla. in 1993 and to Las Vegas in August 2007.

He enjoyed playing tennis and golf and loved sports of all kinds. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Bradenton.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Ruth (Tinker); a son, Larry Dean Brumby of Las Vegas; a daughter, Barbara Ann Brumby Fisher of Norwalk; a brother, Harold Brumby of Canton; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Harrison and Mildred (Morgan) Brumby; and a sister, Margaret Whitney.

A memorial service was held Dec. 28 in Faith United Church of Christ.
