NAPOLEON — Ruth M. Kieffer, 78, of McClure, died Friday morning at her son’s residence in Gahanna.
She was born March 14, 1929 in McClure to the late Cecil M. and Mary E. (Kistner) Bretz. On Feb. 22, 1952, she married Glenn “Sandy” Kieffer in Celina, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1996.
She graduated from Deshler High School in 1947 and from Bowling Green State University in 1950 with a B.S. in Education. She was a second grade school teacher at C.D. Brilhart in Napoleon for 23 years, retiring in 1986. She had previously taught in Celina for two years.
She was a member of the Custar Church of Christ, Henry County Genealogy Society, Henry County Historical Society, Henry County Retired Teachers Association, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by her sons, David (Donna) Kieffer, Gahanna, Brad (Trish) Kieffer, West Lafayette, Ohio, Jack (Denise) Kieffer, Hilliard and Brian (Jean) Kieffer of Greenwich; daughter-in-law, Mary Kieffer (Ralph) of Custar; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, Rodney Kieffer and Ralph Kieffer, and a brother, Martin Bretz.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. James Erven officiating. Interment will follow in the Milton Township Cemetery, Custar.
