NORWALK — Russ Presnall, 84, of Norwalk, died Thursday at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa and was a huge Hawkeye fan.
He served in the Navy as a corpsman for the 4th Marine Infantry.
He was a rubber chemist for more than 40 years in Iowa, Illinois, Ohio and New York, working at the former Clevite-Harris, Milan. He was a member of the Corvair Car Club, and he enjoyed traveling, golfing and collecting automobiles. He was known as a wonderful father and a good grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Rielly) Presnall of Norwalk; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and James Wise of Milan Township; a son, Terry R. Presnall of Pepperell, Mass.; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William E and Edna (Kenner) Presnall; a sister, Doris Jean Foster; and a brother, Wayne E. Presnall.
A private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk with the Rev. Margaret D’Anieri, pastor of St. Paul Episcopal Church, officiating.
