WILLARD — Robert Carlton Holmes, 59, of Willard, died Tuesday.
He was born Dec. 28, 1948 in Willard to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Work) Holmes and had been a resident of Willard all of his life.
He was a retired teacher, coach, church sexton and basketball referee.
He enjoyed teaching, coaching, refereeing basketball, gardening, golfing and especially loved his Lord.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and attended the Willard Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lisa (Smith) Holmes, whom he wed June 19, 1982; a son, Cory J. Holmes of Willard; a daughter, Callie E. Holmes of Willard; a sister, Jane Kennard of Willard; one niece and two nephews; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Tattan; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved maternal grandmother, Lena (Wolfe) Work.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Willard Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church with the Rev. Richard Jueckstock officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
