WILLARD — Richard J. Rees (73) of Willard went to be with the Lord June 2, 2008, at Mercy Hospital of Willard. His death was sudden and unexpected. Mr. Rees was born July 29, l934, in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Harold and Louise (Peele) Rees. Mr. Rees was a supervisor in the shipping department and later an engineer at R.R. Donnelley, retiring in 1992. After retirement, he worked at Willard Graphics doing layouts and computer work up to the time of his death.
He was a graduate of Purdue University, class of 1957.
Mr. Rees was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served as council president for 15 years, along with many years as a Sunday school teacher and adult class leader. He also served many years as vice president of the Willard YMCA and had donated 22 gallons of blood through the American Red Cross.
He loved volunteering at the Willard Hope Center and the Firelands Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed photography, computer work, square dancing, going to auctions and working on his 1953 Cub tractor, but mostly spending time with his family.
Mr. Rees is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet R. (Donnenwirth) Cline Rees; 5 sons - Dennis (Mary) Rees, Joe (Brenda) Rees and Rob (Daphne) Rees, all of Willard, Mike (Shawn) Cline of Worthington and Jerry (Pam) Cline of Marysville; 1 daughter - Vicki (Herb) Harris of Hanover, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law - Kay Rees of Greentown, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Hammer) Rees in May of 1974, and a brother, Marvin J. Rees.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 6, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church, Willard. Friends may call from 1-3 & 5-7 P.M. Friday at the church.
