SANDUSKY — Philip M. Kaczka, 53, of Sandusky, died Monday at Firelands Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 29, 1955 in Bristol, Conn., to the late Leo M. and Ann C. (Danowski) Kaczka. He worked at Delphi for 30 years before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Sandusky. He was a member and past recording secretary for the Knights of Columbus Council 546 and for Local 913.
He was a ranked chess player and enjoyed bowling and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sally (Grimm) Kaczka; daughters, Mary Kaczka of Huron and Christina (Lawrence Staler) Kaczka of Sandusky; a son, Philip M. Kaczka, Jr. of Sandusky; several grandchildren; a sister, Paulette Telenko of Norwalk; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky where prayer services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky with the Rev. David Nuss officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
