SANDUSKY — Paul John (Peter) Feuerstein, 83, of Sandusky, died Monday in the Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 8, 1924, to Alfred and Dora (Kocher) Feuerstein on the family farm in Collins.
He had worked on the family farm for many years. For 11 years, he had worked at the NASA Plum Brook Facility, and then at EHOVE in the Maintenance Department for 25 years, retiring in 1999 at the age of 74.
After retiring, he worked part-time at Drug Mart for five years.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and his family heard many stories about his “hay days” on the farm.
He had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. He enjoyed gardening, being in the outdoors and he truly enjoyed square dancing or ballroom dancing with his wife, Rosemary.
He was a faithful member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff Feuerstein of Sandusky and Dennis (Jeanie) Feuerstein of Bellevue; a daughter, Lynne Feuerstein of Sandusky; a brother, Alfred (Beatrice) Feuerstein of Norwalk; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Dora; beloved wife of 40 years, Rosemary (Stockwell) Feuerstein; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe (Frieda) Feuerstein; a sister and brother-in-law, Elanor (Marvin) Stutsman.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where a liturgical service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. The Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
