SANDUSKY — Okel “Sonny” Church, 76, of Huron, died Monday at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born Dec. 22, 1931 in Lawrence County, Ky. and had lived in the area since the early 1950’s.
He worked at Vulcan Materials in Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife, Joann (Collins), whom he married Oct. 25, 1952; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Klaiber, of Berlin Heights, and Brinda Church of Huron; two sisters, Opel (Denver) Cordle, of Jamestown, S.C., and Irene (Hershel “John”) Cordle, of Berlin Heights; brothers, Fred (Marie) Church, of Berlin Twp. and Worth (Vonnie) Church Jr., of Wakeman; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Nore (Charles) Church; a son, Michael in 1976;, a sister, LouVerne McKnight and a brother Homer Church.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Larry Klaiber, of the River of Life Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights.
