ATTICA — Nellie Ruth Diehl, 75, of Ashland, died Tuesday at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.
She was born Dec. 2, 1932 in Attica to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Berger) Fortney.
She attended Grace Brethren Church in Ashland, and was a graduate of Attica High School, Class of 1951. She enjoyed gardening, walking, harness racing and watching the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Duke basketball.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dale (Pam) Fortney of Ashland; a daughter, Barbara Coffman of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Elvin Fortney of Bellevue, and Edward (Becky) Fortney of Attica; sisters, Audrey Meridith and Anna Smythe, both of Bellevue; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Diehl; her parents; brothers, Ralph, Glenn, and Orrie Fortney; a sister, Bernice Shontz and a granddaughter, Farrah Fortney.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service , 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica, where funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Attica-Venice Twp Cemetery, Attica.
