NEW LONDON — Myrtle L. Sinclair, 101, originally of South Amherst, died Saturday after a short illness at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London, where she had resided for the past 5 1/2 years.

She was born Jan. 21, 1907 in South Amherst, daughter of the late Merton and Catherine (Schroeder) Bailey, and lived in that area most of her life. She graduated from South Amherst High School in 1925. She moved to New London in 1995.

She was a member of the South Amherst United Methodist Church, the Sandstone Senior Citizens, the Order of the Eastern Star Stone City Chapter 325 and the Royal Neighbors of America. She sold Watkins products from her home for many years. She also worked at Richmond Brothers factory helping with the war efforts during World War II.

She is survived by her cousins, Robert (Becky) Gainok of New London, Sarah (Stuart) Starks of Hebron, Ky., Erin (Keven) Wise of Winchester, Va., Andrea (Jared) Swiger of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Emily Gainok of New London, with whom she lived for many years; stepchildren, Jim Sinclair of Lorain, Richard (Jacqueline) Sinclair of South Amherst, Susan (John) Allsop of Amherst; and many step-grandchildren and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Myers in 1947, and her second husband, Otis (Red) Sinclair in 1977.

Friends my call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where a funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Cathy Ake officiating. Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst Cemetery.
