 FREMONT — Leonard M. Springer, 92, formerly of Fremont, died Tuesday at Valley View Healthcare Center. 

He was born Aug. 8, 1915 in Oberlin to the late Fred W. and Martha (Schisler) Springer and attended Norwalk High School.

He married Elizabeth “Betty” G. Tillson on June 15, 1939 in Norwalk, and she survives.

He was employed with Red Star and then Emick Motor Freight as a truck driver for 15 years. He then joined the Operating Engineers Union Local 18 and worked in Heavy Equipment, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 18 and enjoyed yard work, traveling, woodworking, mechanics and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Springer, Fremont; son, Richard Howard Springer, Fremont; daughter, Nancy Snow, Oak Harbor; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Ralph and Earl Springer; sisters, Ora Solida and Alta Springer.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
