NEW LONDON — Kenneth B. Rumsey, 82, of New London, died Tuesday at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 28, 1925 in New London, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Burk) Rumsey.
He was a lifelong resident of New London, and a 1943 graduate of New London High School.
He served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He owned and operated, along with his father, the Rumsey Machine Shop in New London for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Annabelle (Lee) Rumsey; a son, John Rumsey of LaGrange; a daughter, Barbara Hardy of Norwalk; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Snyder Wonders; and brothers, Jack, Thomas and Lawrence Rumsey.
Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where a service will take place at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Lang, pastor of the New London Alliance Church, officiating.
Private burial will take place in Grove Street Cemetery on Friday.
