NORWALK — Katherine “Kay” E. (McManus) Walton, 97, of Norwalk, died Friday at Gaymont Nursing Home.
She was born July 28, 1910 in Norwalk, the daughter of Patrick and Rose (Woller) McManus.
She was a graduate of St. Paul High School and also worked at the Norwalk Reflector office.
She was a teacher at St. Joseph School in Monroeville and was a manager of the Edith Mae Hat Shop in Norwalk before moving to Detroit. She worked for the State of Michigan Department of Labor and the Packard Motor Car Company.
Since 1974, she and her husband, Harold, lived in Sandusky, where she was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sisters, Trudy Dysard of Bellevue and Jean Schnellinger of Norwalk; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Walton in 1987; brothers, Edward McManus and John in infancy; and sisters, Anna Hartman and Mabel Bailey.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk with the Rev. David Cirata, associate pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Norwalk.
