GAHANNA — Hilda Wilson Taylor, 97, of Gahanna, died Wednesday.

She was born Oct. 15, 1920 in Roncevert, W.Va., daughter of the Rev. Linden Rine and Viola Sommer Wilson. Her father was a minister with the First Baptist Church in Norwalk.

In 1930, she married Laurel Reed Taylor and they later had two children, Lynne and Michael. She retired from the Norwalk public schools after 22 years as a dedicated teacher. In 1992, she moved to Friendship Village, where she enjoyed the company of her friends and the staff.

Her memberships included the First Baptist Church of Norwalk, Daughters of the American Revolution, Ohio Genealogical Society and First Families of Ohio, Huron County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical Society, National Button Society and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynne Heskett; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Taylor; and six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Private cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna.
