MONROEVILLE — Helen E. Hassinger, 87, of North Monroeville, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born October 12, 1920 in Tiffin and had lived in North Monroeville for the past 70 years.
She was employed by the Ridgefield Township Trustees as the caretaker of the North Monroeville Cemetery for 50 years, retiring in 2003.
Helen was a member of the Congregational Community United Church of Christ, the Women’s Fellowship Club of the Church, One Alone Club, Golden Eagles, Wisdom Group, all of Monroeville. She was a homemaker, loved to crochet and bake cookies. She is survived by one daughter: Joann (Jim) Draper of Norwalk, six grandchildren: Debbie (Chris) Horning of Bucyrus, Cheryl Drown, Susan (Thomas) Berberick, both of Bellevue, Lori (Karl) Rogers, Jody (Al) Roeder, both of Norwalk, and Bud Draper of Monroeville, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Glen Hassinger, Sr., one son: Glen (Alice) Hassinger, Jr., one granddaughter: Judy Draper, her parents: Alvin & Alta (Smith) Deppen, three sisters and nine brothers.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday. The Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney will officiate.
Burial will be in North Monroeville Cemetery.
