HURON — Harvey M. Cooper, Jr., 71 of Vermilion, died Monday at New Life Hospice in Lorain.

He was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., the son of the late Harvey M. Cooper and Catherine (Liller) Cooper, Oldtown, Md.    

He graduated from Oldtown High School in Oldtown in 1955 and served in the Army in Germany from 1956-1958.

He was employed by several companies, Millers Orchards, Willison Oil Co., and Allegany Ballistics in the Cumberland area before moving to Ohio in 1966. He was employed in Avon Lake at BF Goodrich Chem. Co., now Poly One, and retired in 1992 from the Distribution Center there.  

He is survived by his wife, Carol D. (Stimmel) Cooper; five sons and their wives, Brian D. Cooper and Bonnie (Heavener), Marysville, West Virginia, Brett M. Cooper and Krista (Hite), Huron, Ohio, Gregg A. Cooper and Cindy (Mandula-Vinsick), Vermilion, Dale R. Cooper and Tracy (Hoffmeister) Berlin Heights, Rev. Vince E. Cooper and Nicole (Opper), Norwalk; a brother, Robert G. Cooper and wife Glenna (McBride) Fort Ashby, West Virginia; and a sister, Marietta House of Wagner, S.C.  

 He enjoyed traveling throughout the country. He also enjoyed working around his home and helping at the church. Woodworking and gardening were his favorite hobbies. Harvey and Carol enjoyed their 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 820 Cleveland Road East,, Huron, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Thomas Holzaepfel officiating.    

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights.   

Arrangements are being handle by Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron.
