SANDUSKY — Freddie Carol Gibson, 59, of Sandusky, died early Thursday morning at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a seven-year battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 3, 1948 in North Carolina.
She attended the Mount Harvest Church of God in Milan. She worked at both the Goodwill Industries on Perkins Avenue and the Venice Rd Dollar General Store here in Sandusky. He was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society where she helped encourage other cancer survivors. She enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren and her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Edward Gibson whom she married Sept. 17, 1965; her mother and father, Bessie and Ottis Baker of Breman, Ala.; daughters, Tracey and Rickey “Hillbilly” Ring of Sandusky and Jacquelyn and Brent Brandal of Huron; a son, Chris Gibson and Elizabeth McClain of Sandusky; seven grandchildren; sisters Katrina and Ruel Phillips, of Empire Ala. Shelly and Robert Kaufman, Breman Ala., and Jody Baker of Florida; her father-in-law Charlie & Illene Gibson of Sandusky, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and her special pets, Precious, Lulu and Teena.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Carter; a brother, Shannon Baker and her mother-in-law, Kathleen Gibson.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Groff Funeral Home 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky.
Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mount Harvest Church of God, U.S. 250 and Ohio 113. The Rev. Carl R. Woodyard will officiate. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery.
