AMHERST — Florence A. (Fischer) Leslie, 86, of Amherst, died Saturday at her home following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 18, 1921 in Dover. Amherst had been her home for the last 63 years.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the choir. A homemaker and mother, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, Indians baseball, and also bowling for the last 15 years. She operated Flo's Wicker at Jamie's Flea Market in Amherst for the last 14 years.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harmon and Kathie Leslie of Apache Junction, Ariz. and Theodore "Ted" and Michell Leslie of Whittman, Ariz; daughters and their spouses, Barbara and Louis Schick of Norwalk, Kathleen "Kathy" Wilson of Daytona, Fla., Debbie Leslie of Amherst, and Geneva and Brian Buchanan of Elyria; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry Leslie on April 5, 2003; her parents, Augusta and Florence (Heckerman) Fischer; her brother, Walter Fischer; and by her sisters Elfrieda Hammer, Mildred Kaatz, and Lucille Meadows.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Drive, Amherst, with the Rev. Terrance Adamson officiating. Burial will be in South Murray Ridge Cemetery, Carlisle Township.
