GREENWICH - Elton O. "Buster" Snyder, age 90, of Greenwich, died Saturday morning, June 14, 2008 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk, where he had resided since Tuesday.

Mr. Snyder was born January 8, 1918 in New London, son of the late, Floyd Ora & Sadie (Balmer) Snyder. He was raised in New London and had lived in Greenwich since the late 1940's.

Elton was a 1936 graduate of New London High School; he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He retired from Haserot-Gold Medal Co. of Cleveland, where he was a sales representative. He also had owned a jewelry and repair store in Greenwich. He was a member of the State Highway Patrol Auxilliary. Elton was a member of the former Greenwich Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Greenwich American Legion Mil Bow Mar Post 280.

He is survived by 2 sons, Jerry Snyder of Columbus and Dr. Robert (Nancy) Snyder of Butler, Ohio; 2 daughters, Carol Thompson of Greenwich and Evelyn Snyder of Columbus; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet L. (Werner) Snyder in 2003; a sister, Norma Williams; and 2 brothers, Don and Andy Snyder.

Services will be held 2:30 p.m Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich with Pastor David Cobb of the Ripley Church officiating.

Friends may call from 1 pm until time of service. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to the Greenwich American Legion in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be extended at: eastmanfuneralhome.com.
