NEW LONDON — Elmer G. Draves, 87, of New London, died Friday at Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born Nov. 7, 1920 in Cleveland, son of the late John and Katherine (Perko) Draves.
He moved to New London at a young age, where he lived until moving to Middleburg Heights around 1950. He moved back to New London in 2003.
He was a 1939 graduate of New London High School and worked as a machinist for the former Smith & Harris Manufacturing of Cleveland. He was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New London.
He is survived by a son and his fiancée, Michael Draves and Donna Dennis of New London.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Draves in 2003; a son, Christopher Draves; a brother, John “Jack” Draves; and sisters, Irene Lindenau and Edna Gisclon.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where a Rosary service will take place at 9:30 a.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Ave., New London, with the Rev. Doug Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, New London.
