NORWALK — Dorothy Lee Virginia (Mock) Warner, 86, of Norwalk, died Thursday afternoon in her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 31, 1921 in Mead Poca, W.Va. and had lived in Norwalk for the past 15 years.
She was a member of Latter Rain Deliverance Ministry in Norwalk where she served as the Mother of the church. She was also a former member of Second Baptist Church in New London, and Christ’s Temple Church in Norwalk.
She retired from Wedge Wood Nursing Home in New York as a nurse’s aide. She had also worked previously as a teacher’s aide, and funeral assistant in West Virginia.
She enjoyed collecting salt shakers, angels, studying the Bible, traveling, and raising children.
She is survived by her sons, William “Billy” Warner Jr., Michael (Edie) Warner, Ronnie Mock, all of Norwalk, Robert “Bobby” (Janice) Warner of Lorain, James (Linda) Buckhannon of Huntington, W.Va., and John Buckhannon of Bland, Va.; daughters, Stephanie Bangura, and Tammy Harkness, both of Norwalk, Charlene “Penny” Buckhannon of Springfield, Mass., and Valerie Smith of Nevada, Mo.; a sister, Gracie Claytor of Norwalk; sister-in-law, Shirley Mock of Springfield, Mass; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Warner Sr.; her parents, Charles and Willie Mae Mock Sr.; brothers, Charles Mock Jr. and James Mock; and sister, Beatrice Moye.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m.. Wednesday with the Rev. Franklin Churchwell officiating. The Rev. Stephanie Bangura, her daughter and pastor of Latter Rain Deliverance Ministry, will eulogize.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
Brown-Robinson Funeral Home in Lorain is in charge of arrangements.
