NEW LONDON — Dale H. Dunlap, 73, of Hartland Township, died Thursday at the Hospice House in Ashland after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 4, 1934 in New London, the son of the late, Harmon and Alfreda (Terwiliger) Dunlap. He had lived all of his life in the Hartland area.
He graduated from New London High School in 1952. He served in the Army National Guard Unit of Norwalk.
He had farmed most of his life. He drove truck for more than 10 years. He retired from the former New Departure in Sandusky in May 1991.
He was a member of the New London American Legion Broome-Wood Post 292 and the New London Eagles 2869. He was a former member of the Ohio Wagon Train Association and the Pony Pullers Association.
He had served as a former director of the Huron County Fair and superintendent of draft horses. He was a former leader/adviser of the Rocking H 4-H Club. His hobbies included coon hunting, field trial dog, horses and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Powers) Dunlap; his children and their spouses, Tom and Jackie Dunlap of Norwalk, Steve Dunlap of Ashland, and Teresa Draper and her fiancé, Dale Bowen, both of Ashland, and Doyle Dunlap of Gahanna; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Linda Dunlap of Collins.
Private graveside services will take place today in Hartland Ridge Cemetery.
